An talented friend of mine and I are beginning production on a short music montage, featuring completely original footage and local actors. The featured song will be “The First of Me” by Hoobastank, a really catchy, powerful tune! I’m sure it will be a fun, rewarding project, and I am looking forward to letting our creativity take flight. We plan on taking video footage for scenes in the mountains, a parking garage, and other places so as to portray our relatively abstract message. I’ll keep you informed on our gradual progress. Hopefully we can have the video well on its way to completion before the end of the year, as we’re doing this in our spare time.
Speaking of video, I have noticed that many people are not aware of how convenient making good-quality videos really is these days. A lot of confusion seems to come around regarding the topic of actually putting a video onto a DVD with menus, options, etc. All you need besides your camera (digital or camcorder) and a computer is a decent video editing and authoring program, such as Roxio or Nero. These and other programs offer a wide host of options for authoring very presentable DVD/Blu-Ray videos.
My own recent research of quality, budget camcorders has revealed even more to me about the video and other multimedia capabilities available to the general public for consumer-level prices. For example, some may be familiar with the fact that mainstream movies are made with external microphones so as to better capture important sound like dialogue and sound effects, which mics built-in to cameras can hardly do. Well, many newer camcorders often come with one or even two microphone inputs, and a variety of quality external mics are for sale all over the internet! Another thing is that today’s consumer camcorders feature excellent options, such as HD video processing and more capable lenses.
Thanks to the availability of this technology at a relatively low price, and due to the quality of computer software these days, truly anyone can make some really cool independent films and videos.
EDIT: The full version of the video is now complete! View it here.

Enjoyed speaking with you over the holiday and glad you had a great one too. I am excited about your project and look forward to viewing it as it progresses. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
