‘The Hunt for Gollum’

'The Hunt for Gollum' BannerRecently I happened to come across word of a new, epic online fan-film based on The Lord of the Rings movies titled, The Hunt for Gollum. With independent writer and director Chris Bouchard of Independent Online Cinema at the helm of the project, this amazing feature film began to take shape in 2007. Shot primarily in North Wales, the visuals of this cinematic production are stunning for such a low budget.

The story takes place around year 3009 of the Third Age, just before the events depicted in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, with a script based on the appendix of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books. The film is already available for online HD viewing. The feature also has its own excellent, downloadable soundtrack, closely based on Howard Shore’s original score of the trilogy by New Line Cinema.

After watching this movie myself I can definitely say that I am thoroughly impressed. Great quality and effects… one can really tell that a lot of heart and effort went into it. I hope you enjoy this wonderful gem of an independent production, a true testament to the potential of independent filmmaking.

I have embedded one of the movie trailers – trailer one – directly above (be sure to watch in HD). The rest of the trailers can be viewed here.

Enjoy!
