Kings

KingsRecently I watched a great televion series called Kings (shown on NBC). The show is a modern action/drama series based loosely on the biblical King David account, but set in a fictional modern setting. Having not heard much about it initially, I didn’t go in expecting much, but I am very impressed with the engaging story and solid acting.

King Silas is the absolute monarch of Gilboa, a country once divided in constant war made whole into one prominent nation. In story’s beginning, Silas’ son, Jack, is taken captive by Gath, the country with which Gilboa is at war. David Shepherd, a farm boy, mechanic and now an enlisted solider, manages to rescue Jack from behind enemy lines in an unexpected show of heroics and apparent luck, instantly making him a national celebrity. After being promoted and transferred to the capital city of Shiloh, can David now circumvent the mortal dangers of  royal politics, intrigue and lust for power?

If this sounds at all interesting to you, this show is certainly worth your time. Although some will appreciate its religious symbolism, the target audience is anyone interested in a great story, stock full of action, love, drama and suspense.

Love this show! Unfortunately, I hear that it is not going to have a second season as it’s been cancelled? I hope someone can correct me and say it’s not true! LOVE LOVE The episode when he confronts the tanks! AWESOME show! Great acting!

Word on the street, as you know, is that yes it has been cancelled technically, but I think now a lot of fans are coming out of the woodwork and clamoring for the show’s continuation.

The show’s page on the NBC website seems to be thriving, and much of the lack of success initially was due to its time slot on TV. So, we can hope!

I can’t even bring myself to watch the final couple of episodes, as I think it ends on a little bit of a negative note…I just can’t stand it. I hope they bring it back…it was awesome!
